In 1999, Bob and Cathy drove to Sandy Point State (Maryland) Park near Annapolis, MD to view the very start of the 1999 total eclipse of the Sun. From eastern Maryland, just a tiny selection of the Sun was covered, just as the Sun rose on August 11, 1999 at 6:14 am. It was a pretty morning, very warm with a very stiff breeze coming in off the Chesapeake Bay. Bob and Cathy took a couple of images.
Cathy captured this image with a digital camera. We had this image on the net by 8:30am!
Bob captured this image with a Nikon Camera, a Nikkor 300mm lense, Kodak 200 ISO Gold film, scanned from the color negative.
